Expandable bolt also known as hydraulic expansion bolt, is double-layer tubular bolts made from seamless steel pipes with an outer diameter larger than the anchor hole diameter.

Ordinary expandable bolt are made of seamless steel bars with an outer diameter larger than the drilled diameter. Put the steel pipe into the anchor hole and use high-pressure water to expand it. During the expansion process, the expansion bolt undergoes permanent deformation. The wall of the anchor pipe completely fits the irregular wall of the anchor hole. The entire length of the anchor creates friction and self-locking forces, thereby strengthening the rock mass.
