The Friction Bolt ,also known as split set is roll-formed into a C shape by high tensile steel band.One end tapered for easy insertion into a drill hole, the other end has a welded ring to hole the bearing plate.
Friction Bolt is a frictional ground support system,has many advantages such as consolidate a surrounding rock on self's own initiative, active reinforcement anchorage and immediately bearing etc.When a friction bolt is inserted into a drilling hole with a smaller diameter, the slot partially closes and the bolt diameter is compressed, which creates radial forces on the rock roof surface along the whole length and firmly holds the rock,prevent the detachment of surrounding rock.In case of blasting vibration displacement of surround rock,anchoring increases significantly and supporting effect is ideal.

Pull Test
Pull test is a very important testing for the performance of Friction Bolt. It can tell the welding quality and at the same time to know the ultimate broken strength. The testing will be carried out several times in one batch of products to be sure a good and consistent quality of welding all through the production.
Different grade of material and different thickness of material will lead a different result in the pull test, we have rich experiences to select different kind of material and thickness of friction bolt for our clients to meet their support requirements.

How to work
Place a bearing plate onto the friction bolt (domed side against the ring),then insert the friction bolt into a hole slightly (the hole has a smaller diameter than the tube),at last drive it into the drilled hole with installation equipment until the dome plate is firmly against the roof.When the tube enters,the diameter is compressed and the slot partially closes,which leads to radical forces along the whole length at the contact surface with the rock and makes friction bolt hold the rock together.Thus,one whole friction ground support system is formed.
Installation Guide
-The nature of the ground must be evaluated.
-Drill a hole in the area according to bolt diameter, bolt length and drilling procedure as specified in the plan.
-The hole should be drilled with the proper diameter bit as specified in plan.
-The hole should be at least 150mm longer than the whole length of the friction bolt.
-After placing a plate onto the friction bolt tube (tapered end at front), drive the bolt into the hole by the installation equipment until the plate is firmly against the rock surface.
-Perpendicular Installation-Bolts should be installed as near perpendicular to the rock surface as possible.
-When the plate contacts tightly against rock surface, do not continue to pound on the friction bolt, because you may damage the end of the friction bolt.
-If insertion time is too fast (than normal), please check drill bit diameter to be sure it is right or not. If insertion time is too slow, please check drill bit diameter, bolt length, operation of drilling, dust cleaning and insertion.
-Keep hands away from all dangerous points,rotating or vibrating parts.Always wear and utilize proper safety gear and eye protection.
-Pull test should be performed to determine initial anchorage of the friction bolt.
